Senator McCain Is Losing It
-The beauty of fall …
-Hi guys, and good morning. October is at the half way point today – the 15th of the month.
-Out in our back yard this morning we have partly cloudy skies with 39 degrees above. I just poked my head out a few minutes ago and all in all for a late fall morning, it’s quite nice out there.
Color weather radar shows a very large area of rain in the very extreme south eastern portion of Minnesota this morning – down in the Rochester area, but the rest of the state is looking clear.
-Today’s northland weather forecast is calling for: Partly sunny. Highs 50 to 55. West winds around 15 mph. The forecast is looking pretty good for this time of the year. It’s going to be just another day for me to wear a T-shirt, Jacket and Shorts. I just hate to give up my shorts.
-We are about half way through our GLBT history month. That’s right, every year the month of October marks GLBT history and on this date here is what happened:
October 15
October 15, 1952 – One, Inc. was founded in Los Angeles to publish One Magazine. The magazine was published until 1969. One, Inc. still continues as an educational institution.
October 15, 1969 – New York City’s Gay Liberation Front joined a moratorium protest against the war in Vietnam.
October 15, 1973 – The formation of the National Gay Task Force was announced in New York City.
October 15-16, 1977 – The First National Congress of Quebec Gays meets.
October 15, 1977 – The Santa Barbara, California, board of education voted to ban discrimination against GLB students, making it the first US school board to do so.
October 15, 1983 – Eddie Murphy’s HBO special “Delirious” aired. It raised controversy because of several tasteless AIDS jokes and a long diatribe about “faggots.”
October 15, 1987 – Ken Dawson, who had been director of Senior Action in a Gay Environment for six years, resigned. When he began the organization had an annual budget of $45,000 and 100 volunteers, when he resigned the annual budget was $750,000 and 600 volunteers.
October 15, 1988 – A gay rights ordinance was passed in Alexandria, Virginia.

-Steve and I talked yesterday via our cell phones off and on … while I spent a few hours visiting my cousin Joann in the hospital. She was taken into the hospital last week with some stomach problems and as it turns out – she has to have gall bladder surgery.
I have to say, when I visited her yesterday – she was in good spirits and happy as usual.
When Steve got home from work, and changed clothes – we headed off for our usual hike / walk for about 30 minutes. The temperatures were cool, but not unbearable at all. As I look at it, it’s going to be a heck of a lot cooler or should I say colder a month from now. So it was good to get out and enjoy the later afternoon of fall and get a walk in.
Before Steve arrived home, I went to the local grocery store and purchased all the necessary ingredients to make homemade chili. By the time I left the grocery store I had spent $19.93 for the ingredients. I came home and put it all together and then just let it simmer until we got home about 6:30 p.m. or so from our walk.
Unlike my partner who had two bowls – I restricted myself to just one bowl of my homemade chili – although I did have a few spoonfuls as I was making it.
Any good chef knows you have to test the food, before you serve it.
I’d love to publish my recipe, but to be honest it’s just something I put together with various ingredients, spices and my own taste. So I don’t have a recipe to share – sorry guys. Maybe next time.
-The McCain campaign yesterday:
Barack Obama has a different view of America than most of us.
Listen Mr. McCain … What is that supposed to mean anyhow? And who are most of us?
Last time I checked – which was yesterday afternoons television polls, most of us are voting for Barack Obama and not for you John McCain.
Most American people find you John McCain to be increasingly radical John McCain.
Most American people also find your running mate – Sarah Palin to be a big mouthed idiot.
Most American people are still trying to figure out what the heck ever possessed John McCain to risk America’s future on someone as whacko as Palin so for such a high governmental office.
Vote Barack Obama on November 4th – change we can believe it – my friends. We don’t need four more years of the past eight years to move ahead – we need change that makes this nation once again strong with allies around the world who will call us “their friend” and not their enemy.
-Well guys … that’s about it for this Wednesday – hump day. It’s the 15th of the month and if you live in Minnesota and own real estate – don’t forget to pay your property taxes today. This is the last day that they are due to avoid penalty.
Steve and I wish each of you a great Wednesday – as your return to your jobs or enjoy a day off.
-Until next time…
