Wearing A Man Skirt

-I expected to see the ground white and covered with snow – but it’s not!

-Good morning, it is Sunday and we are on the last week of the election races here in America – thank goodness. It’s been a long long campaign season … and American’s in nine more days will head to the voting places to cast their vote for the next President of the United States, plus many other offices across this land.

-Out in our back yard this morning, we have light rain and 37 degrees … up just 5 degrees from freezing. Color weather radar shows rain across all of Minnesota at this early hour of 5:30 a.m., with snow starting to move into Minnesota in the northwest corner from North Dakota.

Our weather forecast for today is: Windy. Rain showers likely and a slight chance of snow showers early in the morning…then rain and snow showers likely in the late morning and afternoon. Areas of blowing snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches…little accumulation close to Lake Superior. Highs 38 to 43. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.

I think along the shore line of Lake Superior, we will probably just have rain – as the water temperature from Lake Superior influences the air temperature for about a five mile radius inward from the lake – thus keeping the air warmer at this time of year.

Besides that, it’s far to early to have snow. :-)

-Bloggers around the country will participate in “Write to Marry Day” on October 29, 2008, posting on their blogs in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples and against California’s Proposition 8. Prop 8 is a measure on California’s November ballot that would take away the right of same-sex couples to marry.

The event will give bloggers a chance to voice their opposition to Prop 8 and highlight what they may have already done, online or off, to stop the measure. The campaign will also educate California voters of the need to “go all the way” down the ballot to vote on the proposition.

To participate, bloggers should post on their own blogs against Prop 8 on or before October 29, 2008, then visit www.mombian.com to submit the links to their posts. Links to people’s own videos on YouTube or other video sites are also accepted.

-Steve and I drove into the big city yesterday … stopping only briefly at a couple of stores … having a lite lunch at Taco Bell, and then heading to the movie at 1:10 p.m. at the Marcus 10 DECC theater.

The movie we saw, is titled Pride and Glory.

Four New York City cops are dead, killed in an ambush that has the entire police department on alert and on edge. With a cop killer on the loose and so much riding on the case, Chief of Manhattan Detectives Francis Tierney, Sr. asks his son, Detective Ray Tierney, to lead the investigation. Reluctantly Ray takes over the case knowing the cops who were lost had served under his brother, Francis Tierney, Jr., and alongside his brother-in-law, Jimmy Egan. On the surface, it looked like a routine drug bust gone terribly, tragically wrong. But as Ray delves deeper into the case, he realizes someone had to have tipped off the drug dealers that the cops were coming. Someone on the inside. Worse, the evidence starts to point in an unthinkable direction: to his own brother and brother-in-law. As the questions mount, the case forces the family to choose between their loyalties to one another and their loyalties to the department.

I’d rate the movie at a B … It was good, it wasn’t great in our opinion. The first 45mins of this movie were awful, just slow slow slow, and again as I said overall a good movie, not great. But the acting was excellent..Edward Norton did a great job and Colin Farrell – to me was not as much of a yum yum as I used to think.

Movie over … and coming out of the theater – we were surprised by sunshine and 60 degrees in Canal Park … so we decided to run up to the Miller HIll Mall to just browse around for a hour or so, before we headed back home for the evening.

All in all it was a great day … no serious shopping and no grocery shopping … just a day out together, chilling and relaxing – just what every gay couple needs. :-)

-This month is GLBT history month, and if you have been following us – we’ve tried to pass on a bit of history on each day of the month to you – our readers. On this date in history, here is what happened:

October 26

October 26, 1990 – A U.S. Army colonel was discharged and sentenced to 90 days in Leavenworth for appearing in drag at an AIDS benefit and kissing another man.

October 26, 1992 – Portland Oregon police chief Tom Potter testified before a state senate committee, saying many victims of anti-gay assaults do not report the crimes because of fear that their identities will be made public.

GLBT history month, has now been celebrated for fourteen years.

-As a boy, I loved to sit and watch he and Dean Martin in the movies on Saturday afternoons. But today, I have my reservations about his integrity.

Veteran comedian Jerry Lewis has again for made an anti-gay slur, this time on Australian television. The comment reportedly is similar to one he apologized for using on his annual U.S. telethon a year ago.

The 82-year-old comedian made the comment after a press conference in Sydney on Friday when he was asked his opinion on the Australian nation sport of cricket.

Lewis apologized in September last year for using the term “illiterate faggot”. After, he stated the slur was a “bad choice of words.”

How sad.

–The germiest places in America … Where are they?

1. Your kitchen sink
2. Airplane bathrooms
3. The area around your wet laundry basket
4. Public drinking fountains
5. Shopping cart handles
6. ATM buttons
7. Playgrounds
8. Your bathtub
9. Your office phone
10. Hotel room remote

-Today, as usual … is NFL Sunday around our house. Steve and I will make our individual picks for who we each think will win today’s games and then email it to his sister, who keeps a tally on the various choices made by everyone in “Steve’s familiy group” for the week and also for a running total. Needless to say, my partner – Mr. Sports is in first place. I was in second place, until Steve’s dad through a block on the 10 yard line and unseated me. Now I think, I’m in third place.

-Lastly this morning … do you think you could dress like this?  Would you wear a skirt?

Marc Jacobs and husband Lorenzo Martone look very happy together as they wandered hand-in-hand around New York City. The couple had a lunch date at Da Silvano.

Upon leaving the happy couple held hands and kissed as they walked to their waiting car. Marc was wearing a skirt and was carrying a huge man purse.

Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer, born in 1963 and in 2007 he was ranked as being in the top 50 most powerful gay men in America.  Lorenzo Martone is a Brazilian advertising executive who lives in New York and is apparently married to Jacobs.

-Well that’s about it … for this Sunday mornng. It’s the last Sunday in October. Enjoy your day – we will also, I guess – depending on what all happens today.

I’m not going to rush on out of here to head for the shower – because I don’t have to go to work or do anything else this morning – but I think I’ll dig around in the kitchen and grab a bowl of cereal and read the morning news on the internet.

Steve and I wish you a great Sunday … take care and enjoy your day off – I know Steve will for sure…and as for me, since I’m retired – well it’ll be just another great day in life. :-)

We will see you back here tomorrow morning – Monday, as we begin a new week together.

-Until next time…
