Tribute To Brodie

-It was about 12:10 central daylight savings time, and I was just going to shut down my iMac to do other things when I learned of Greg’s sadness.

-Greg, over at Point and Shoot — posted this very sad message:

A Sad Day

The time has come. We’re going to the vet in 30 minutes to put Brodie down. It is heart-breaking, but I deep down I know it’s the right thing. I can’t bear to watch him suffer any longer. His spark is gone. I need to let him go.

My heart just about broke, because you see … I’ve had to that same thing three times in my life – and believe me it is one of the hardest tasks that a man ever has to do.

From my email, I sent him these words…

He’s just my dog.
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
My other ears that hear above the winds.
He is the part of me that can reach out into the seas.
He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being.
By the way he rests against my leg.
By the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile.
By the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy abound.
When I am a fool, He ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another person.
With him, I am all powerful.
He has promised to wait for me…whenever…
In case I need him; and I expect I will—
As I always have.
He is my dog…Brodie.

-Out in the back yard this morning it is a heat wave at 46 party cloudy degrees. Not to bad out there, as I stuck my head out the door this morning, to let our dog back into the house.

-Our northland weather forecast is: 48° Partly cloudy. Highs 45 to 50. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

-Yesterday was absolutely fantastic around here. The temperature in the afternoon got up to 67 degrees – it was a heat wave to say the least.

I was in the big city, getting my car oil change done – then I ran to Sam’s Club, and the mall and later on around 12:30 p.m. I met Steve for a lite chinese lunch.

By the time I got home, around 2:30 p.m. and got some gasoline in the car – I thought it was a July day. The weather was great!
