Why I Must
-It’s Sunday … it’s a day of rest and relaxation – for most guys … For us it’s NFL Sunday … we’ve got to make our picks for the games today … since we are both in Steve’s NFL family football pool. No money, just a pool to see who picks the most correct winning footballs games all year. Me? I’m in I think third place, and Steve – well he’s in first place.
-Out in our back yard this morning we have cloudy conditions and 28 degrees above zero. Color weather radar shows a little bit of precipitation in the central part of the state this morning – but that’s about it.
-Today’s northland weather forecast is calling for:
Mostly cloudy. Highs 32 to 37. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Looks like it is going to be about average for today out there.
-Most days when I wake up I’ve got something to say or something to share … but today I just feel kind of drained and tired … after the past two days.
So as of this hour, I’m not sure where this blog is going … but we’ll have a go at it anyway.
-This guys been all over the map … from this to that and back again.
The singer changed his name to Mikaeel in a ceremony at a friend’s Los Angeles home just days before he is due in court.
Jackson, 50, is facing allegations of borrowing $7 million from Arab sheikh Abdulla Al-Khalifa and failing to repay the sum by recording two new albums, writing an autobiography and penning a musical.
The cash-strapped star – who was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness – was convinced to turn to Islam by producer Phillip Bubal and songwriter David Wharnsby.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “They began talking to him about their beliefs and how they thought they had become better people after they converted.”
“Michael soon began warming to the idea.”
Singer Yousef Islam – formerly known as Cat Stevens before he also converted to the religion – attended the star’s declaration of belief, known as the shahada.
Meanwhile, an itemized list of Jackson’s debts to the prince has been revealed – including a $5.7 tub of the singer’s favorite Haagen-Daaz ice cream.
Good luck Jacko … on your newest endeavor …
-Steve and I went to the big city yesterday … and it was the first Saturday that we did not:
- Go to Best Buy, or
- Go to this store, or
- Go to that store
- Eat a big meal out somewhere
- Buy this or that
- Go to a movie
Why you ask … we were both basically broke … well, not exactly broke but I’d spent so much money this past week for my goofy health care (which my former employer made a mistake on, and for which I had to pay $1,083 – or $541.00 more because they goofed up this past July on telling me what month to pay for, and then $266.00 on the dog’s vet visit, plus regular bills) so for a week – I just spent a lot of cash.
Even poor Steve was low on funds … but then he paid for the vast majority of last weekends four day trip to Minneapolis, MN (except for meals which I paid for) … so we’ve both spent quite a bit of money in the past seven to ten days.
Then with Thanksgiving coming this week, and Steve going home to his family, along with driving and bringing a food dish … there are other expenses to be incurred – so we just both decided to make a wise move and not do a few things we would normally do on the weekend.
End result – we saved some money.
We did stop at WalMart and I of course bought a few things for my Thanksgiving, which I’ll be spending alone basically here at home.
So the dog and I will celebrate Thanksgiving – and Steve will be gone as of 7:00 a.m. Wednesday when he leaves for work and he will be returning home late Friday night or Saturday night – I’m not quite sure as of this writing.
It’s going to be kind of different … simply because this is the first time we’ve ever been apart on Thanksgiving.
-You ever wish you could get something done in life. If you wish to get something done, then I guess you have to stop telling yourself why you can’t … whatever it is done. I’ve been down that road. So I thought about it this morning … as I was writing the first few lines of this blog – which as I said earlier I did not know where it was going. I decided that I needed to begin telling myslef why I must get something done – like dropping a few pounds, and not worrying about those small things in life – any more – and just living for myself.
Of course there are obstacles to every achievement. Yet I can work through any obstacle when I have a clear and compelling reason to do so.
The first thing I realized I have to do is zero in on that reason. Make it my priority to keep that reason ever present in my thoughts. Like dropping a few pounds … it’s easy to think of it in the morning, but by 10:00 a.m. or later on, I’ve forgotten about it.
Though the challenges may be powerful, I can always make my purpose even more powerful. Keep telling myself, again and again, why I must. Well the same is true with any of you guys out there … no matter what the item you want to accomplish is. You’ve just got to set your mind to it.
I’ve just got to make a solid connection between my actions and my purpose. That will cause my effectiveness to soar … and who knows, I just might accomplish something that I set my mind out to do.
So that’s why I must …
-In between sentences here, I had to get dressed and take the dog out for a walk at 6:05 a.m. as he was just pacing and pacing.
Oh well … it was brisk – but actually the fresh air at this time of morning kind of woke me. I’m back the house now and ready to finish our blog.
-This week being Thanksgiving week, I thought each day I’d list a few things to be thankful for…during this Thanksgiving Season 2008:
- A good pillow
- A good partner
- A scenic drive
- A good furnace to keep us warm
- Bananas
- Walking during the day
- Beautiful scenery where we live
- Being able to watch deer walk every so freely around town
- Blue jeans
- Good close quality friends
-Wow … there is just tons and tons of things that I’m thankful for … how about you? What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving week? There gotta be something … come on, put it down as a comment to this post. We’d like to know what gay guys who read this blog are thankful for.
We want to know your alive out there. We know that guys all over the world read us – but we’d like to hear from you … let us know what your thankful for. Please share a few good comments and thoughts with us.
-When Steve and I were at Target, Sam’s Club and the Miller Hill Mall yesterday – you would have thought it was the Friday after Thanksgiving. Oh my gosh, every one of those stores was wall to wall people.
Yet inspite of all the people, stores are cutting prices earlier and deeper. They’re offering coupon deals and financing packages. They’re pushing promotions through e-mail, direct mail and loyalty programs.
In our Friday mail here at the house, we had several weekend flyers promoting coupons for this and for that – from big brand name stores in the mall.
So far, it hasn’t worked we are told. Consumers remain in a deep freeze, and every day seems to bring more bleak news: The Dow Jones tumbles, unemployment rises, credit tightens and home values plummet. Even people with jobs are pinching pennies…well you can see from what we mentioned a few lines up – even we are being a bit careful with our pennies.
How about you … are you going to spend the same or less or more this year on Christmas presents for your partner or family or relatives?
-Last night Steve asked me if I had read his blog posting yet. I hadn’t, but that is because I normally read it the day after he posts it in the morning when I’m done doing our blog.
Now he just posted this yesterday … and I just finished reading about his comments on James … James Bond!
When I said I hadn’t … he got mad at me and made some comment, like I never read it. Hmmmm, well I just did – all of it…every single word.
Like, seriously – Steve and I went to see the new movie about James Bond called Quantum of Solace … and to be honest with you – the entire time I was sitting in the theater the same thing kept on incessantly popping into my head…
Steve would love if Daniel, one night would bust through the bedroom window, and put him in some crazy position and have his way with Steve … after all Steve thinks Daniel is hot!
If I know my partner, Steve was probably thinking throughout the entire movie that Daniel Craig was so scorchingly hot in this movie he just couldn’t even describe it. But if you notice from his blog posting, my partner posted six – count them six “hot” pics of Craig. Hey does that tell me something or what?
In the back of my Steve’s mind I am sure he was saying “I don’t think I have ever seen a man look so good … I mean, I know this is Bond and all, but that guy is not to bad.”
As for the movie … well the only thing big about that movie – was the fleshly member in my partner’s pants.
I know he thinks Craig is hot – and frankly I’m no match for Craig.
As far as the movie goes … there have been better James Bond movies.
This one was so so. Good post pal … your doing a great job – a hundred times better than me.
-I got the turkey, the stuffing, the potatoes, the everything – for “my” Thanksgiving meal – this coming Thursday.
I bought some of this and some of that and before you all know it – I’ll have my dinner all put together and about 2:00 p.m. or so on Thursday – Thanksgiving Day, I will sit down together and give thanks for all the many blessings I enjoy.
Basically it’s going to be a quiet week, but I’ll surive … Steve will be at work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
-Well that’s about it for this Sunday before Thanksgiving. Have a great day guys and remember to be kind and be good. We will see you back here tomorrow morning.
-Until next time…
