Great Weekend Away Together
-Sunday morning … hello everyone … we are back home after two great days in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
We arrived on Friday afternoon … and the weather down in the Twin Cities was fantastic. Warm, blue skies and just super nice.
Talking about weather…out in our back yard this morning we have 63 degrees with clear blue skies. Today’s north land weather forecast for our back yard and the area is: Partly cloudy. Highs 73 to 78…65 to 70 near Lake Superior. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
Color weather radar does show some small amounts of moisture in extreme southwestern Minnesota this morning – but the rest of the state is clear and appears to be very nice.
-Friday we made a couple stops, first thing off to (1) get a Father’s day card for Steve’s dad and (2) a gift card that Steve could send off in the mail to his dad for Father’s Day.
After that … we made a couple quick stops here and there – and then it was off to our hotel – the Park Plaza Hotel. We got a nice big “suite” with King Bed and all the extras for just an amazing price. Steve is great shopper for hotel rooms.
Minutes after registering at the hotel … and it being about 5:20 p.m. we headed on over to St. Paul, Minnesota on our way to the Myth. We stopped in downtown St. Paul at Cosetta’s where Steve had a slice of pizza and I had a bowl of soup and with a side of protein (meatball and sausage) for our supper. Then it was north bound to Maplewood, MN and the Myth. We arrived early … doors did not open until 7:30 p.m. so we sat in the parking lot and just relaxed. Skies were partly cloudy and there was a fantastic north west breeze blowing to keep us cool and comfortable.
The concert had three bands – the first one Steve had not heard of … but the second and third bands were just the one’s Steve wanted to hear. Those bands were Firehouse and Ratt. The concerts went on until about 12:20 a.m. … and the place was packed. I know Steve had a great time and I enjoyed myself being with him at the concert … but I’m not quite as crazy about the volume of the music as he is.
Concert over .. my ears were just ringing and both of us were tired – so we headed back to the hotel and got a good nights sleep. Steve was in the hotel room about five minutes and was out like a light bulb and I was not to far behind him.
On Saturday, (yesterday) we spent the whole day – just doing nothing but sight seeing and relaxing. We had breakfast at a Perkins near the hotel – (yes, I watched what I ate all weekend – making certain the everything was healthy) and the left for Lake Calhoun in the center of Minneapolis for some recreation.
Lake Calhoun is part of the Minneapolis Chair Of Lakes and is a popular site for fishing, wind surfing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, walking, jogging, biking and roller- and in-line skating. In 1999, the Chain of Lakes drew over 5.5 million visitors making the Lakes the second most popular visitor destination after the Mall of America.
The distance around Lake Calhoun is 3.2 miles for bicycles and skaters and 3.1 for walkers and runners.
Steve set off from his car to take a short walk and by the time we were done – we had walked the entire 3.1 miles in the scorching 80 + degree heat. Steve (being shy) whipped off his T shirt to show his (whiteness) and by the time the walk was over – believe me – he had color in his skin. We both wore T’s, shorts and tennis shoes … and all in all the distance we walked was good and we both were tired but sensed a feeling of great accomplishment by taking the walk.
Needless to say .. the entire was was wall to wall skin … mostly young college guys and their occasional girl friends … laying the beaches soaking up the sun and enjoying the day as much as we were. I haven’t seen that many semi naked young guys in my life.
but it was fun – sorry to say not as many older guys like Steve likes were observed on the beach – but there were a couple here and there in his weekend to view.
We spent about 2 1/2 hours all in all in the Chain of Lakes area .. just enjoying the day and the beautiful weather. It was just a great day to be out.
-By 3:30 p.m. we were back in Steve’s car and headed northbound on Interstate 35 for the Duluth area – making one stop at the Super Target Store on North I-35 near Lino Lakes for just a couple small things.
We arrived back in Duluth around 8:00 p.m. or so … to a beautiful warm 85 degrees evening – stopping at Old Chicago for our supper. The place was packed with runners and their friends and family – who were in town for the running of the 33rd annual Grandmas’ Marathon.
Steve had the turkey strombolis and I had the oriental chicken salad – our meat was excellent – as it always is at Old Chicago.
Meal over we headed for home, unpacked and relaxed for the remainder of the evening until we went to bed about 10:50 p.m. or so.
-Today is Father’s Day …
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
We extend our wishes to “father’s” here is hoping all the father’s of gay men have a wonderful day.
-Steve works this afternoon, starting at about 12:30 p.m. and won’t be back home until about 8:15 p.m. or so tonight … so I’ll spend the greater part of the day alone – for which I plan to get out and hike and just enjoy the weather.
…and to my partner Steve – thanks for such a fun time … it was great and the good thing is … we get to go again this coming weekend to Minneapolis and St. Paul Gay Pride … Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – it’s going to be an awesome weekend away together.
-On that note – it’s time to head off to the kitchen and make some breakfast for myself. I did lose 6 pounds last week and with my walking 5.0 miles in the past two days … I’m hoping for another good weight loss this coming Thursday – when I weigh in. Steve will be up in about 2 hours or so and back to work for him around noon today (as I just mentioned above) and earn some $$$ for life doing his secondary job.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for reading us and leaving the comments that you do. We really appreciate hearing from you guys.
Have a great Sunday, and remember to call or contact your dad and wish him a Happy Father’s Day – after all you owe him your life here on this great plant.
Be kind and to be good.
