Staying Young Even If Your 20

-7:38 a.m. and I just woke up … better late than never.  Good morning everyone, on this Saturday the 11th of July.

We are slowly but surely making our way up to the half point of July and what I like to call the half point of summer.  Wow … the time is just flying by … here is hoping your enjoying your summer, where ever you may be.

-Today, I thought I’d do away with the usual starting format of good morning, the weather, the color weather radar and how things are with Steve and I … (well I might still include that) and just move onto what it is I have to say.

-One of things that has become more important to me NOW than ever before is the concept or idea of “staying young”. I guess there are many ways to stay young … one of the best ways I know is to have a “young” partner.  Steve is so young looking that last weekend, we were out with his sister and he got “carded”.  After the waitress discovered he was 36, she said to us – he sure looks more like 22 or 23 … NOT 36.

What a nice compliment for my partner … but could the same be said for me or you or others we know.

Some thoughts on staying young:

1.Get rid of those darn old numbers. This includes age, and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay “them.”

2.Keep only cheerful friends nearby. Grouchy people just pull you down.

3.Keep reading and learning until the day you die. Learn more about your computer, crafts, gardening, whatever it may be. Never let your brain go into a state of being idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop” And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.

4.Enjoy the simple things in life.

5.Laugh often, laugh long and laugh out loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.  It’s heathly, it really is.

6.The tears happen.  Hey, ask Steve I cry … and I cry every so often.  Endure the situation, grieve the loss, and then move on with your life. The only person, who is with you your entire life, is YOU. Nobody else.  Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7.Take time to surround yourself with what you love, which can be family, dog, computer, camera, keepsakes, music, DVD’s, CD’s, plants, hobbies, whatever it may be.  Your home is your refuge and place of safety and these items give you comfort and believe me you need comfort.

8.This one is really important and it simply is this to cherish your health.  If your health is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help today by seeing a doctor.  Don’t delay.

9.Don’t take guilt trips. I’ve done this a few times in my life because of something I’ve done wrong or something some one else has tried to do to me, or has tried to hurt me.  Wanna take a trip…then take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; or some place but NOT to where the guilt is.  Dump it, leave it, forget it – it’s not worth it.

10.Tell the people you love ~ your partner, your brother, your family … that you love them, at every opportunity … because you never know when your day is coming. :-)

11. Last but not least …“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Have a great Saturday guys …
