Gay Marriage Won’t Go Away

-A couple of weeks ago, Steve and I went to the North Country Bear Dance at Rumors in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Now before I go on, I have to tell you .. I’m a jealous guy (fearful of being displaced) by another man … in Steve’s life. No…he has not given me any reason to be that way – it’s just the way I’ve always been from the get go.

Aside from that … I never really enjoyed going to these “bear” events in the past – because I always felt a bit threatened by what I wasn’t. I’m not muscular, I’m not beefy, I’m not hung like a horse, but I am fairly nice looking, an average body (that could stand to drop some pounds), and I have a penis that works. :-)

But I always felt threatened by older guys who may or might have been “more than what I was” and fearful that one would make a pass at Steve … and I’d be on the outside looking in at a vacant relationship.

Is that natural or normal for a guy to feel that way … I don’t know. Call it insecurity or worry or whatever – I don’t really care. To me, it was more real in the past than it is today.

But, when we’ve attended previous “bear” events in Minneapolis – I’d notice that all the “bears” were older guys – the kind of guys Steve basically liked in the past..and maybe even today.

They were men in there late 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s … but when we attended this “North Country Bears Dance – it was quite the opposite. The bears were all…”younger” late 20’s, 30’s and lower 40’s…but not any or not to many 50’s and early 60’s. I think I was the only “old guy” there.

So…what happened to the “old bears”? I don’t have a clue, but it is apparent in the metro area, that the “old bears” are hibernating and the “younger bears” are out to play and seem to be doing a great job of getting the “bear” events going in the Twin Cities area.

So…bears are getting younger.

-Looking outside this morning, we have 34 and cloudy in the Duluth area … Today’s northland weather forecast is: Mostly cloudy. A chance of light rain or snow early in the morning. Highs 37 to 42. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30 percent.

Color weather radar at this hour does not show any rain or snow in Minnesota .. hopefully it will stay that way.

-By now you’ve probably heard …Maine voters repealed a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed, dealing the gay rights movement a heartbreaking defeat in New England, the corner of the country most supportive of gay marriage.

Gay marriage has now lost in every single state — 31 in all — in which it has been put to a popular vote. Gay-rights activists had hoped to buck that trend in Maine — known for its moderate, independent-minded electorate — and mounted an energetic, well-financed campaign.

Gay Marriage Won’t Go Away and neither will gay men or gay couples.

Maybe, just maybe it need to be “Legalized Gay Partnerships” instead of marriage.

-In sports, a team source denied accusations that Dallas Mavericks center/forward Drew Gooden used a homosexual slur to insult a couple of Los Angeles Clippers fans Saturday night.

The NBA is reviewing the incident, according to league spokesman Tim Frank.

“After the game we went to the souvenir shop and my friend said he wanted to check if one of the kiosks had a particular jersey he was looking for, so he headed back through the stadium and I followed a few feet behind,” Wylde told the Web site. “I saw him look shocked and turn to me, then I heard from Drew Gooden who was surrounded by three or four guys walking past me and pointing to me, ‘There’s that other faggot.’ He had said, ‘There’s that faggot’ about my friend and that’s why he turned to me shocked. It was completely unsolicited. We said nothing to him during the game, or in the hallway. He just called us both ‘faggots’ because he’s a bigoted spoiled bully.”

-Steve will be up shortly…to shower and get ready for another day at work. I didn’t do a heck of a lot yesterday, except clean around the house a bit, wash some clothes and watch television.

I must have worked hard enough – because I fell asleep long before bedtime … while watching television after the basketball game.

Boston beat Philadelphia 105 to 74 last night – it was a blow out. Tonight the Celtics come to Minnesota to play the Timberwolves … as Kevin Garnett returns to the court in his old home town.

I’m sure the T’Wolves will be handed a defeat …

-Last comment … it is amazing how voters in this nation continue to allow hatred and discrimination to continue.

How sad, for our nation.

-I’m going to grab some breakfast, Steve will be rolling out of bed shortly – have a great day and we’ll see you tomorrow.
